Who am I..

My names Maddison Laird! Iā€™m a teacher, artist, fisher women and country kid.

What does art mean to me?

Art has always been my love. All my other hobbies and interests have been influenced by the people in my life but art was always my thing! It is my comfort in hard times, a way of expressing my passion about something and I find joy teaching it to others.

I remember drawing a bunch of horses in a desert landscape at the age of 7 (wow, a lot has changed) feeling so proud of myself I decided that I wanted to be an artist.

What inspires me?

I find it hard to name one thing that inspires me as my artwork varies a lot but common themes are...

Rural Life: Growing up in the beautiful Pioneer Valley surrounded by cane, cattle and horses it was pretty easy to be inspired by rural life. The constant themes of horses and cattle in my art have had a heavy influence from my husband with his family farm producing brahman cattle and Appaloosa horses.

Fishing: For me family time is fishing, crabbing, prawning and spearfishing. I try to reflect these experiences in my artwork.
